*Threads has marginal conversion of click throughs from their 2B+ active users across FB + Insta that, maybe once a week or every few weeks, click a deep link insertion from threads and pop over for like a few minutes a month Would be my guess Bc the VIPs aren't here and it feels very very small

AR glasses replacing your phone seems insane to me Some activities / use cases are streamlined via audio I/O, and some via AR visuals, but the majority of things ppl do on their phone are not.  AR will likely eventually be huge and great in many ways but not a phone replacement

At Meta Connect, Mark Zuckerberg was the whole show, giving it a “Zuck or nothing” feel, and he has never seemed more intent on claiming the mantle of innovator

The company has an expansive vision for the future — and until then, some incremental updates

Not only does Meta simply not get how to recreate twitter the product (which is insane bc it's literally copying ~95% of a massively PMF'd thing), but they have long had a history of not doing right by users and nothing ab Zuck's most recent comments is encouraging Users deserve a better twitter replacement than threads (and so far bluesky and mastadon are still not mass market viable)

Agree, also Apple has done basically nothing since Spotify went big on podcasts.  Even though Spotify's strategy is bad ($220M for a less good in-the-red libsyn, $100M for a failing content biz, user hostile strategy of forcing ppl into walled garden or not listen to their fav shows, etc) and the UX is too (podcasts shoehorned inside a music app) but they seem to be trying something vs Apple's nothing The bar is so incredibly low

These actually seem like really stupid call outs.  I would guess it's just as simple as there's upside and almost no downside (and no reason they couldn't just pull out if they wanted to later) Like # 4 is so fucking stupid bc if that were true they would have just cloned twitter (which is what meta should have done no matter how mark feels about Elon) And # 1, like what? …
