Good report.  It got me thinking that you could simulate what the wide fov looks like with current headsets by creating a 360 photo/video of the Boba POV view (like you have in the comparison view) and viewing it in a Quest.  You'd rotate your head to see how far the fov goes and imagine how you'd be able to see those views without looking around in boba

Hands-on with Boba 3, Meta's prototype PC VR headset with a form factor similar to the Quest 3, featuring an ultrawide field of view of 180° by 120°

honestly my Vision Pro when close to my eyes feels about on par.  Tiramisu was only a 30 degree FOV but felt like more of a peek into the future. David Heaney / @heaney555 : Here's...

Meta's Anduril deal shows how much has changed in the past couple of years in Silicon Valley, where developing war tech was once considered a hard red line

Meta is crossing a former hard red line in Silicon Valley to develop tech for military uses.  —  I can't think of any other deal …

Currently dealing with two opinions at odds with each other 1. meta horizon worlds is cancer and is killing the quest vr dev ecosystem 2. meta horizon worlds is the reason why meta is subsidizing the headsets + infra, which is how the quest dev vr ecosystem has existed in the first place Curious to hear y'all's take on this

Road to VR

Meta announces a $50M creator fund for Horizon Worlds; CTO Andrew Bosworth reportedly told staff that 2025 is a make-or-break year for Meta's XR ambitions

they are making a long-term play.  rather than put money into supporting VR for adults, productivity, etc. — they're investing in a generation that will have *grown up* with VR X: ...

I'd take this with a complete grain of salt. There's no way Apple overestimated units sold Kuo (the info source) is contradicting himself (see: https://twitter.com/...)

Sources: Apple cut 2024 Vision Pro shipments to 400K to 450K units, compared to a 700K+ market consensus, and US demand has “fallen sharply beyond expectations”

My latest survey is as follows:  — Apple has cut its 2024 Vision Pro shipments to 400-450k units (vs. market consensus of 700-800k units or more).
