The European Commission's annoncement of intensifying DMA/DSA enforcement may ultimately mean just some performative action: they launch investigations, impose fines, but ultimately nothing changes in the marketplace. Just so it doesn't look as if they caved to Trump.

The 9th Circuit has just published its decision on Apple's appeal against the sanctions the court imposed for violating the injunction Epic Games had won.  Epic got a reasonably good (even if not perfect) outcome: by and large, the district judge was right, but Apple can charge some commission — or at least a contempt ruling is not the right vehicle for imposing a royalty-free licensing obligation on Apple only because it asked for too much.  Apple wanted the injunction lifted in light of new California case law, which was denied.  And the case remains before Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, with whom Apple disagreed on a lot of things, but who did not do anything that would warrant a reassignment of the case.  The proceedings will now have to continue in Oakland before Judge YGR.
