Not wanting your products, which you have created, to be used in ways that you find ethically unacceptable is neither arrogant nor a betrayal. And it is a travesty for Trump to designate Anthropic a supply-chain risk, which there is no plausible argument it is.

Anthropic says it'll challenge “any supply chain risk designation in court” and that the designation would only affect contractors' use of Claude on DOD work

Earlier today, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth shared on X that he is directing the Department of War to designate Anthropic a supply chain risk.

Be serious. The president of the US government is personally handing the most influential social-media platform for young people to his political allies, and everyone's supposed to just nod and say, “OK.”

Last week, when Trump and Musk had their press conference together, Trump was asked about Elon's shiner, and said, “I didn't notice it.” This week, Trump says that actually he had offered Musk a little makeup to cover it up. He just lies about everything, no matter how trivial.

I'm happy to see Musk not toe the Trump line on the budget, but just complaining is not that useful. Almost all govt spending now goes to Social Security, health care, and defense. Which of these does Musk want to cut, and by how much? [image]

It's grotesque that the fate of many trillions of dollars of investment and business activity in the U.S. is now entirely dependent on the whims of one man, and a capricious, ill-informed man at that. [image]

Since Liberation Day, yields are higher. The market is down 4%. American businesses and consumers have been slapped with roughly a 20% tax on imports. American exports have been effectively frozen out of China. And we haven't actually gotten any major concessions yet.

China had $3.58 trillion in exports last year. $436 billion of that went to the U.S. That's a big chunk of their total exports, but are they really “completely dependent” on the U.S.?

Just figured out where these fake tariff rates come from.  They didn't actually calculate tariff rates + non-tariff barriers, as they say they did...So we have a $17.9 billion trade deficit with Indonesia.  Its exports to us are $28 billion.  $17.9/$28 = 64%, which Trump claims is the tariff rate Indonesia charges us.  What extraordinary nonsense this is.
