I will be truly shocked if SBF gets a pardon. SBF and CZ are not comparable at all. SBF was a Democratic mega-donor before FTX collapsed and he went to prison bankrupt. His name is half punch line half curse word in DC. Not a single serious person wants this. Do not pardon SBF

Trump's pardon of CZ is a gift to the crypto industry, which has spent heavily to ease regulations and rewrite history to remove associations with criminality

The move by Trump comes as his family works to profit from coins.

A huge setback for crypto policy. Not only because Brian would've made a superb CFTC chair, but also because of eight months wasted without a fully staffed and operational CFTC. Prediction markets, perps, and other priorities should move forward without delay. New nominee now!

Roman Storm was convicted for conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmitting business under Section 1960. The jury was deadlocked on money laundering and sanctions. DOJ will decide in the coming days if it wants to retry those charges in a new trial. A sad day for DeFi.

The Senate just tried and failed to pass the GENIUS Act, its version of stablecoin legislation. Voted down, 48-49. Many reasons why it didn't pass today, but none that can't be addressed with more bipartisan work. This isn't no, just not yet. Matter of time until we're back.

For years, the SEC was unwilling to answer even simple questions like “are stablecoins securities?” It's great to see the SEC give such a clear explanation as to why the answer is “no” under both the Howey and Reves tests. Slowly but surely, this SEC is cleaning up the mess 🌟

Everyone hoped the new SEC would end its regulation by enforcement campaign against crypto, but it's still mind-blowing to see it happen like this. The agencies almost never walk away from litigation without at least extracting a face-saving settlement. This is total victory ✌️

Trump put Treasury Secretary Bessent in charge of the CFPB. His first act: “shut it down.” The CFPB is one of those DC agencies with a vaguely nice name that does exactly the opposite of its stated mission. Only Congress can eliminate the CFPB for real, but this is second best.

@VitalikButerin You make some solid points here. Too many people will read the headline as “vote Biden!” and miss the rest. That said, overall, much of this seems too clever by half. Good crypto policy requires electing pro-crypto candidates, period. Political reality beats idealism every time.
