I haven't seen any Apple employees publicly criticize this new policy. I know we shouldn't expect that. But it's also kind of... horrible that we cannot expect that. Apple employees surely are themselves angry, but are silenced by their employment.

In response to CSAM detection misuse concerns, Apple says protections will roll out in the US first, then on a country-by-country basis after legal evaluation

Apple this week announced that, starting later this year with iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, the company will be able …

I have no patience for people who won't see how this is going to do more harm than good. Apple building any way to scan images will become a larger problem. There's no reason to believe people who possess these images won't... just simply stop using Apple products.

I haven't worked at Apple in 10 years and *I* feel bad about this. I feel bad that I contributed even the most trivial visual details, that in the aggregate work to gain customers' trust. Now Apple seeks to erode that trust? I feel bad for contributing to it.

Apple making a process to scan hashes won't solve many actual problems, but gives up everything they stood for. I'm uninterested in debate or replies. If you wanna argue with someone, argue with someone else.

In macOS Monterey's new developer beta, Apple appears to walk back on its revamp of Safari's tabs, which were set to become more efficient with vertical space

just surprised they are doing so. They didn't care what anyone thought about iOS 7. Collin Donnell / @collindonnell : @lapcatsoftware These things are all demoed for executives and...

Intel hires Justin Long, who played the “I'm a Mac” role in Apple's Mac vs PC ads, to pitch Intel-based PCs and tout touchscreens and convertible form factors

they did do at least two* ads that talked about Macs running Windows Vista, an indirect acknowledgement of the processor. I remember because they involved PC World *("The Suit" ran...

Interesting that Apple's M1 chip threatens Intel so much that they hired Justin Long.

I'm just finding it a little hard to believe that any person on the planet stans Intel. No one thinks “Wow, it's got Intel. Cool.” Not one soul. This is an embarrassing ad series.

I think the Fortnite situation inspired a lot of developers to be louder about App Store issues. But this change in policy doesn't affect Fortnite at all. So everyone who qualifies for this 15% cut no longer are in the same bucket as Fortnite, and complaints will likely diminish.

Which is a shame! There are so many valid App Store complaints that Apple has ignored for years, and they just quite literally bought themselves some more time by saying “well, we're already extremely rich so we can afford to just pay you a little bit more so you shut up.”
