Interesting to see that Meta is taking the opposite approach to Apple and focusing on a low power wearable hardware for augmented reality. This makes a ton more sense in my opinion. Meantime, Google just patiently waits, as they know their apps will be the most used on either..

Hands-on with Meta's Orion: needs a wireless processor puck, weighs only 100g, is packed with sensors, and has good eye tracking and a wide FoV for AR glasses

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg calls them “The most advanced glasses the world has ever seen.”  —  I wore Mark Zuckerberg's contact lenses.

So, basically now running a business or offering products and services over Unity is a massive risk because they offer you better terms if their use their services. Is this not abuse of dominant position? Great way to kill off the competition, hope they don't get away with it. [image]

Very happy that Unity removed the retroactivity of their new fees. I happy for anyone moving to Godot but, as I said before, at their own pace and will. Doing it forced by a stressful situation can never be a good experience.

I have to say I find quite amazing that so many Unity users are begging the company for charging them upfront payment + revenue share. Hard to see a company with such faithful and loyal customer base. Can't picture Adobe, Autodesk or even Epic customers doing this.

Not defending Unity leadership, but I think accusing them of greed when they are not profitable (and ad revenue is shrinking) is missing the point. To me the real problem is that the company got itself into a situation where It's just massively expensive to develop the engine..🧵

It was assumed dead by almost everyone the moment they announced their business model. The market expected a Netflix of games, they launched a platform to buy games you don't own. In the end, nobody bought games, expecting it would die soon, resulting in self fulfilled prophecy. https://twitter.com/...
