It's such a delight to see the progress we are making as an industry in terms of ML performance - kudos to all the submitters and everyone who developed our MLPerf benchmarks and power measurement.

MLCommons shares results from its MLPerf 4.0 training benchmarks, which added Google's and Intel's AI accelerators; Nvidia H100 GPUs topped all nine benchmarks

For years, Nvidia has dominated many machine learning benchmarks, and now there are two more notches in its belt.

@WarpFact0r10 @jonmasters Intel made mistakes on 10nm and corrected. Intel will likely beat TSMC to GAAFETs. They also have a viable business model and the talent for developing advanced logic. The subsidies basically even the playing field compared to subsidies in other countries.

The US Senate passes the Chips and Science Act, including $52B+ for US chipmakers plus tax credits to encourage investment; the bill now heads to the House

@jonmasters This is not a good idea. 1) what does equal mean? Does it mean equal access to capacity? What about shuttles and PDKs? What about the mask shop? History has shown that compelling de jure equality does not product de facto equality.

@du_dot_ie ... Yes. I re-read that piece the day Apple announced that they were shifting from Intel to in-house and it made me smile. My analysis was quite good!

Most people don't grasp Intel's conservativism about new litho and correct EUV choice. EUV was absolutely not ready for HVM in 2017 for 10nm, nor in 2019 for 7nm. Unfortunately it turns out that 10nm wasn't ready for HVM for in 2017 or 2019 either. 1/N

Optical communication without fibre, amazing! I wonder how latency compares to microwave and weather sensitivity. Impressive accomplishment, kudos the team and can't wait to see the deployment https://arstechnica.com/...
