Watching Meta stock holders—including lots of current and former employees—celebrate their huge stock bump ONE DAY after a hearing where Zuckerberg faced parents of children harmed by his company is...well...everything that's wrong with our current incentive structures.

Hate & harassment online ⬆️ sharply for both adults & teens. Joined @MSNBC @Morning_Joe to discuss our findings and what can be done to reverse this normalization of hate. Social media companies must do better. And lawmakers have a role to play too. Watch: https://www.msnbc.com/...

Sad news for those seeking tools to keep themselves safe(r) from online hate and harassment. This was an innovative solution to protect people against hate while not “censoring” the haters per se. https://twitter.com/...

Cox says he will be happy to follow up. How many times have Facebook/Meta executives said they would follow up on these questions, and how often do they actually do so? The public deserves to know how much hate speech and other violating content Meta's own tools recommend. 2/

@mosseri Isn't that because Instagram has pushed us to post more in stories (and reels)? If people are getting less engagement on their posts than their reels and stories, then that is where they are going to post. Are you saying your engagement algorithms have nothing to do with that?

@CraigSilverman Meta's spokesperson Andy Stone's comment shows just how little they care about being caught red handed doing nefarious shit. 1/Why bother fixing things today if you can just “live in the future”? Zuckerberg's new “company values” perfectly prove @nils_gilman+my point in our recent piece: the promise of what we call “futurity at scale” is used to indemnify against today's harms. @WillOremus So now can we finally put to rest the false notion that Zuckerberg is a champion of free speech & that Facebook has ever been about a deep desire to promote free expression? Power, growth, domination are his ideologies. Time to stop diagnosing & start figuring out real solutions.
